Benefits of Using Apple Cider Vinegar on Your Child’s Natural Hair

By  |

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has long been praised for its ability to revitalize the hair and skin. It’s an all-in-one beauty staple that is easy on the pockets. The acidity of apple cider vinegar balances the hair’s natural pH levels which doesn’t strip hair of its natural oils like some shampoos can.

When incorporated into your child’s hair care routine, apple cider vinegar can become an effective conditioner, cleanser, and detangler. A lot of parents have reported that their child’s hair is more manageable, softer and super shiny. It has also been known to effectively aid against dandruff and head lice.

ACV Rinse before after

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (organic is best, but any kind will do)
1 cup of filtered water
Spray bottle

Directions:

  1. Add ACV and water to a spray bottle and mix well.
  2. Spray liberally throughout the hair making sure to massage it into the scalp.
  3. Cover with a shower cap and let sit for 30 minutes – 1 hour.
  4. Thoroughly rinse mixture out of the hair.

Since everyone’s hair is unique, you should use your best judgment on how often to use this rinse. Some people have found that vinegar rinses may be drying to the hair if used every day. Start by using the rinse twice a month and adjust the frequency according to how the hair reacts.

*Note: Do not use this rinse if your child has sensitive skin. Be careful not to get ACV in the eyes and make sure that your child covers their eyes with a wet towel.
